Last day of riding, it has been a great journey and its hard to believe that the tour is already over. We covered almost 400 miles in one week with close to 20,000ft of climbing, drank enormous amounts of water and saw incredible landscapes. The guides were great and every got along very well. All in all another fine cycling adventure with Velissimo Cycling Destinations.
We left the sea to make our way into the Pyrenees, riding through the very famous Languedoc, known for its Rose, another incredible day in the saddle with temperatures in the 100’s F. Rural roads lined by canals and vineyards made the riding a little less hurtful, this was our 6th day of riding in hot weather and our rears are tender.
We spent the night in an old Gypsy wagon located on the stunning property of the very hip Les Mas de la Fouque Hotel on the outside of the town of Le Mas de Peint, completely modernized with air con, sat tv, wifi, mini bar, claw tub, etc, this was a lot of fun and a welcomed change in accommodations. Dinner was typically local Camargue food with fresh Monk fish, Bull Stew, cheese and dessert to die for, all in all presented as seen on the Food network, wow!! Our ride would take us along the coast through the city […]
It has been repeating itself for quite some time, but it is really the truth, every day riding is better than the day before. The hotel in Gordes was beautiful, built basically into the mountain with several levels of services and rooms, dinner was special, again, local food from the Provence, always plenty to eat without feeling full, wine is great, white or red, doesn’t matter. This morning we started at 8.30am to make our way to the coastal plains of the Camargue, known for its marsh lands and horse breeding, we won’t forget to mention the Languedoc wine region. […]
EPIC! That’s basically it, lovely hotel on top of Crillon de Brave, Louis de Crillon built the little village in the 15th century on top for defense purposes. The hotel is the village or the other way around, a must on the bucket list. Enormous amount of climbing today, first course Mt Ventoux, 6600 ft high, the giant of the Provence, average grade 10%, the record time to the top by bike is 53min!! It took us 2 hrs and we we did it with at least 200 of our best cycling friends, absolute mayhem on the top, bikers everywhere […]
