2013 Tour of France Day 1 Nice, Cote d’Azur

30th Jun 2013

It has been 3 years since I came up with the idea to go to the 100th Anniversary of the Tour de France. Now we’re in Nice, Cote d’Azur, 3 years later walking on the Promenade des Anglais enjoying a beautiful day with clear skies and warm temperatures.

The Tour caravan arrived early in Nice. The hosting town of the team time trail, has put on a showcase with an amateur time trail on the original TT course, expo, etc, everything right in front of our host hotel for the next three days, Palais de la Méditerranée.

A long journey from Hawaii to France. Over 28hrs of traveling. Mostly without hick-ups. Just a small incident where Tammy and Mike, fellow travelers, didn’t get a UA ticket confirmed. Sweating bullets like Mike Tyson in a spelling bee they were trying to convince the agent in Brussels (a stopover on our journey), to fix the problem. Everything got resolved quickly and we arrived tired but happy in Nice.

Don’t try this at home, our friends Cynthia and Tom Dreyer trying to beat the world record in reversed tandem riding, really hilarious.
